Navratri is a grand and elaborate festival that lasts nine days. It is marked by pure devotion, a lot of music, dance, bright colors, and vibrant energy. During all nine days of this festival, people adorn traditional and colorful outfits featuring regional crafts and handwork. Usually, a different color is marked for each day, representing a different goddess. This tradition has gained widespread popularity across the globe and continues to trend on social media.
Mirraw has you covered for all your Navratri needs, whether it's a Garba night, a Dandiya event, a pooja at home, or celebrating each day in its designated Navratri color. Since sarees remain a popular choice for this festival, we have unique options in a variety of vibrant colors, fine fabrics, impeccable artistry, and unique silhouettes. Buy a Navratri saree and shine bright during the celebrations.
Sarees hold a special place in Navratri fashion because they beautifully combine tradition, elegance, and festive appeal.
While a gorgeous chiffon or cotton saree in the Navratri color of the day looks poised and respectful for the morning pooja, a mirror work or Bandhani saree has the right glitz for a Garba or Dandiya evening.
A saree is also a versatile outfit. Navratri sarees are available in a variety of fabrics, such as cotton, georgette, chiffon, net, and silk. You will also find options in regional crafts like thread embroidery, mirror work, Bandhani, Leheriya, gota-patti, and more.
A saree is traditional and graceful. It has a unique way of suiting women across age groups, making them look elegant and making them feel very comfortable at the same time.
The nine saree colours for Navratri have spiritual significance and practical dressing appeal.
Each color signifies a different form of Goddess Durga and a different day of the festival. The traditional Navratri saree colours are yellow, green, grey, orange, white, red, royal blue, pink, and purple.
Planning nine looks around the Navratri saree colours has become an exciting part of the festival as it's trending and makes the dressing feel more intentional and trendy.
The fabric matters a lot for Navratri sarees because the celebrations include a lot of long events and dancing. Hence, beauty and comfort are both necessary.
Georgette sarees are light, fluid, and comfortable, making them ideal for Garba and Dandiya celebrations.
Chiffon is lightweight and airy. Chiffon sarees are perfect for warmer Navratri evenings and daytime festive occasions.
Since the fabric is crisp and subtly shimmery, it’s a favourite for its structured elegance and lightness.
They are delicate, luminous, and crafted using fine silk threads. Tissue sarees look lovely for special Navratri nights.
Navratri sarees are all about flowy fabrics, traditional prints, regional crafts, and celebratory elements. Here are some of the most popular Navratri saree trends this season:
They’re traditional sarees of Gujarat and Rajasthan. They are hand-dyed using the tie-dye method and are known for their bright colors and unique patterns.
Also from Rajasthan, leheriya sarees features colored diagonal stripes that are achieved with the tie-dye technique. The festive versions also come with gota-patti work and mirror work.
Mirror work sarees are native to Gujarat and have small reflective pieces of mirrors incorporated on the body and border, giving the Navratri saree a celebratory touch.
For a simple yet festive look during celebrations, block prints, floral patterns, and ethnic prints are the best picks.
These sarees are known for embroidered borders, vibrant work on the pallu, and detailing done with regional crafts.
The right Navratri saree is all about festive sheen and comfort. Here are some tips to keep in mind while shopping for the perfect Navratri saree:
Pick light fabrics like georgette and chiffon for dancing the night away.
To complete the festive wardrobe, shop for sarees for the nine Navratri days in corresponding colors.
Mirror work, gota-patti, Leheriya, and Bandhani are apt for Garba and Dandiya nights. Simple printed and tie-dye styles are apt for pujas and daytime gatherings.
For a cultural look, wear the saree with the traditional Gujarati pallu. After the event, store the saree properly to make it last longer.
A traditional embroidered blouse, as well as a modern one, will look good with a saree.
Fabrics that allow easy movement without restriction, such as georgette and chiffon, are the best choices for sarees for Navratri.
A waist belt over the saree gives structure, prevents it from unravelling while dancing, and adds a very contemporary styling edge.
Traditional saree blouses like mirror work or embroidered blouses can be worn with your saree for an added traditional touch.
Embellished flats or block heels will look stylish and feel comfortable, especially while dancing.
These two factors go hand in hand for any Navratri look. A saree that's pretty, feels comfortable, and lets you dance freely is much better than an exquisite one that you need to fix again and again.
The dark antique finish of oxidised jewellery goes really well with bright colors and bold designs.
Kundan jewellery is known for its regal appeal and is ideal for special occasions and formal Navratri celebrations.
Statement accessories like jhumkas, chandbalis and stacked bangles add unmatched grace to the look.
Embroidered and silk options are the most appropriate accessories to complete the look.
Hair accessories like floral pins, embellished clips, faux flowers, and pearl clips complement the look. Add traditional juttis and embellished flats to complete the whole festive vibe.
